Het Antwerpse muziektheatercollectief Les Âmes Perdues duikt in de 65 jaar oude Eurovisiesongfestival schatkist. Drie multigetalenteerde spelers maken arrangementen van hun persoonlijke wedstrijdfavorieten. Een medley van laatste-prijswinnaars, renaissancistische “Wild Dances”, driestemmige satires en oprechte odes aan de hartstocht - van Viva Victoria tot Ding-a-Dong!
Ter ere van de uitgestelde 65ste editie van het Eurovisiesongfestival, blikt Les Âmes Perdues terug op de lange geschiedenis van het festival, met al z’n eigenaardigheden, tradities en onderhuidse politiek, maar vooral: het gigantische repertoire! Eurovisionary is meer dan een recital, meer dan een revue - het is zowel een narratieve voorstelling als een interactieve wedstrijd. Een ode aan het festival, en tegelijk een subversieve interpretatie ervan.

Antwerp-based music theatre collective Les Âmes Perdues dives into the 65 year old treasure chest that is the Eurovision Song Contest. Three multi-talented playersarrangements of their personal Song Contest favourites. A medley of last-prize-winners, a Renaissance version of Viking Rock, a three-part satire or a sincere ode to passionate fervour - from Viva Victoria to Ding-a-dong! LÂP makes a theatrical performance brimming with colourful light, exuberant costume changes, and vibrant vocal tour de forces.
In the Context of the 65th Eurovision Song Contest, taking place very close to home in Rotterdam in May 2020, Les Âmes Perdues brings Eurovision to the people. We take a closer look at the long history of the festival, with all its quirks, its traditions and its politics, but mostly: its vast musical repertoire! The queer, buoyant Eurovision microcosm is right up Les Âmes Perdues’ alley. The multi-talented collective has its own tradition of making contemporary, authentic arrangements of all genres of music, be it classical, chanson, pop or folk. Only three players walk a parade of ever-changing characters, hopping the boundaries of time and language.
Eurovisionary is much more than a recital, more than just a revue - it is both a narrative performance and an interactive live contest. It is both an ode to Eurovision and a subversive interpretation of it.
