Gaea Schoeters / Passa Porta
Author Gaea Schoeters and house of literature Passa Porta proceed with a ‘café chantant’ about three remarkable women that were undervalued during their lives, but deserve lasting admiration nonetheless.
In each Dead Ladies Show, three speakers - passionate authors, actors, scientists or artists - share their love for an exceptional woman. They guide you through her life, work and realisations. Writer Gaea Schoeters compiles the evening and points the show’s direction. A woman from the world of literature is at the heart of each Dead Ladies Show, but female explorers, athletes, artists and researchers also get their limelight.
The Brussels Pride Festival provides enough reason for actress Joke Devynck, author Fleur Pierets and author/bookseller Johanna Pas to take a glance at the life and work of three marvellous women. In their lecture-performances, they honour the lesbian Swiss writer AnneMarie Schwarzenbach, the French sculptor Camille Claude and the American Polyamorous poet and prose writer Nathalie Clifford Barney.
Between the readings, soprano Naomi Beeldens and pianist Lies Colman bring lewd German cabaret music by Marlene Dietrich and Claire Waldoff.
